EXFO FTB-1V2 Specifications Table

EXFO FTB-880V2 NetBlazer Multiservice Module

The EXFO FTB-880V2 NetBlazer is a portable multiservice network tester used to install, verify and troubleshoot LAN and WAN connections. Its test module operates in a compatible EXFO FTB-1 platform, which provides the screen, controls and power. It supports network-service testing up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet, depending on the installed configuration.

The tester generates controlled network traffic and measures how a connection performs. Technicians use it to evaluate throughput, frame loss, latency and other service characteristics. These measurements help identify problems that can cause slow data transfer, dropped traffic or inconsistent network performance.

Its Ethernet service-activation tools include iSAM, EXFO’s intelligent testing application, alongside capabilities such as RFC 2544 and EtherSAM testing. These tools help technicians check whether a newly installed service meets its performance requirements before customer handover. Automated procedures simplify setup and provide results that are easier to interpret.

Beyond Ethernet, the FTB-880V2 can support transport and communications technologies such as SONET/SDH, OTN, DSn/PDH and Fibre Channel when equipped with the appropriate options. This allows technicians to work across both legacy transmission systems and newer packet networks. Available functions depend on the unit’s software licenses, interfaces and optical transceivers.

The platform’s interface lets users configure tests, monitor results and document completed work. Its portable design makes it useful for service activation, maintenance and troubleshooting at customer premises or network sites. EXFO now lists the FTB-880V2 as discontinued, so a used system should be identified by its exact platform and installed test options.

Features:

Ethernet testing from 10 Mbps to 10 Gbps.
Dual-port Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet testing.
iSAM intelligent service-activation testing.
EtherSAM testing, based on ITU-T Y.1564.
RFC 2544 benchmarking for throughput, latency and frame loss.
TCP throughput testing up to 10G, based on RFC 6349.
Multiple traffic-stream generation and monitoring.
Ethernet bit-error-rate testing (EtherBERT).
Smart loopback and Through mode.
Packet capture and advanced filtering up to 10G.
VLAN, IPv6, MPLS and Carrier Ethernet OAM testing.
Copper cable testing with Power over Ethernet validation.
SyncE and IEEE 1588v2 PTP synchronization testing.
OTN, SONET/SDH, DSn/PDH and ISDN PRI testing.
Fibre Channel testing at 1×, 2×, 4×, 8× and 10× rates.
CPRI testing up to 9.8 Gbps, including base-station and remote-radio-head emulation.
Error/alarm injection, performance monitoring and saved test reports.
