Lot of 4 DVDNow S250 Best Buy Canada Movie Rental Kiosks – 2 Fully Working!

Up for sale is a bundle of 4 blue Best Buy-branded DVDNow S250 kiosks. These were part of a limited Best Buy Canada rollout around 2011–2012. Estimates are only around 80 of these units were made for the Best Buy rollout. Stored in a garage for ~10 years but recently tested after being powered on.

Tested Condition:

• 2 Units – Fully Working: Power on, touchscreen boots fully to the main rental menu (movie covers, Rent/Return/Buy options, virtual keyboard), mechanical disc handling system operates, keys included.

• 1 Unit – PC Boots: Computer starts and shows Linux boot screen (Tux penguins visible), but does not reach the full touchscreen GUI.

• 1 Unit – No Display: Completely dark screen (PC powers on internally), no key for this unit.

Key Features (common to all):

• Model: S250

• Touchscreen interface

• Credit card reader slot (Visa, Amex, Mastercard, Discover)

• Holds ~250 DVDs/Blu-rays

• Glass front doors - all glass is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage.

• Best Buy branding with distinctive blue cabinets

These are iconic pieces of early 2010s retail technology. Great for:

• Restorers and hobbyists (popular for custom home use, displays, or running retro software)

• Parts harvesting (touchscreens, disc carriages, control boards, power supplies, etc.)

• Man cave decor, movie props, or creative projects

• Scrap/metal value

Important Notes:

• DVDNow is long defunct, so full online rental/credit card processing isn’t available without significant custom work.

• Heavy and tall (~6–7 ft).

Local pickup only in Northern California.

Buyer handles loading and transport.

Serious inquiries only. Feel free to message for additional photos, videos of the working units powering on, or more details. All sold as-is.
